The locomotives of the series BB 67000, were put into service by the SNCF railway company from 10 August 1963 at the Chambéry depot. They were designed by Brissonneau et Lotz at Aytré in Charente-Maritime.
They are mixed locomotives that can carry both passengers and freight. The locomotives are numbered from BB 67001 to BB 67040, followed by the second series from BB 67041 to BB 67124.
