In 1945/46, the SNCF ordered even another additional 17 locomotives. There, class 52 was designated class 150 Y. A unique feature of the locomotives was the shorter chimney, whose purpose was not to exceed the French clearance gauge. The class 150 Y hauled both heavy goods trains and passenger trains in the eastern region of the SNCF. They were in operation there until the end of the 1950s.
