Pre-Order McK2905 DSB Lgs 42 86 442 5 115-2

Around 1990, DSB bought a number of closed freight wagons from SJ.
The wagons had the letter Gbs, and were built in large numbers in the early sixties, thus SJ had had approx. 4,500 wagons of this type, divided into several different variants.
The wagons had a wheelbase of 8.0 m, and measured approx. 14.0 m above the puffs, just like the Danish Hbis wagons.
DSB only had to use the undercarriages, so Henriksen in Aarhus was allowed to remove the car bodies, after which the undercarriages were sent to Næstved, for rebuilding at Varig.
Thus, during 1991, 172 of these undercarriages were converted into container carriers with the letter Lgns, and the operating numbers 42 86 443 2 000-42 86 443 2 171.
The wagons could be loaded with either one or two 20-foot containers, or a 40-foot container.
As early as around 1993, the wagons were rebuilt for the sake of the wagon weight with a closed bottom, and were in this connection relitred to Lgs.
At the same time, they were renumbered, and now got the operating numbers 42 86 442 5 000-42 86 442 5 168.
Three wagons had been scrapped before the conversion, so there were only 169 Lgs wagons.
Along the way, some of the wagons had their second digit in the wagon number changed from 2 to 1, in connection with them being approved for driving abroad.
The large inscription plates on the wagons 'springwork also disappeared on some of the wagons, after which the note holders were moved up on the wagons' beams.
The majority of the wagons were scrapped around 2000, but a few wagons were still in operation in 2001, and therefore passed on to the division of DSB into Railion.

The wagons were used, among other things, to transport DSB´'s own containers, for example the 20-foot containers of the type Hg 6 4021, built by Talbot in 1977.
DSB had more than 350 containers of this type, with the numbers 86 06 1 0000-86 06 1 0361 .

The models

The model is built of a cast metal base, consisting of beams, various profiles in the undercarriage, and the carriage base itself.
The carriages also consist of a number of loosely manufactured parts of either metal or plastic, i.a. resilient brass buffers, etched corner steps, metal wire handrails, springs with or without inscription plates, and a richly detailed braking system.
In accordance with the model, the trolleys have pins for holding the containers, but the small plates on which the pins are mounted are replaceable.
In each box there are thus eight plates with holes instead of pins, so that the wagons can also be used for transporting containers of another make, if these are manufactured in accordance with the NEM standard.
The included containers are of the type Hg 6 4021, and are made by McK in a new tool, made according to drawings and photos.
These containers have holes in the bottom that fit the mounting pins the carts come with.
The containers are made of plastic, with an inner metal plate at the top.
Like the models, the wagons can be loaded with either one or two 20-foot containers, or a 40-foot container.

The wagons are delivered in the following three versions:

Lgns with open bottom (McK 2901-2904)
Lgs with banknote holder on sideboard, and without inscription plates (McK 2905-2906)
Lgs with banknote holder on sideboard, and with inscription plates (McK 2907-2912)

The first two versions are delivered with a 20-foot container, whereas the last (and newest) version is delivered without load.
The reason for this is that the container that is initially manufactured is in the "DSB" version, ie before "DSB Gods" appeared on the containers in the mid-nineties.

A set is also manufactured with a number of loose containers, with operating numbers other than those supplied with the wagons.
