Pre-Order McK2002 DSB Lps 42 86 412 8 007-1

Around 1990, DSB bought a number of closed freight wagons from SJ.
The wagons had the letter Gbs, and were built in large numbers in the early sixties, thus SJ had had approx. 4,500 wagons of this type, divided into several different variants.
The wagons had a wheelbase of 8.0 m, and measured approx. 14.0 m above the puffs, just like the Danish Hbis wagons.
DSB only had to use the undercarriages, so Henriksen in Aarhus was allowed to remove the car bodies, after which the undercarriages were sent to Næstved, for rebuilding at Varig.
81 of these undercarriages were converted into timber wagons, specially designed for the transport of logs, primarily to Junckers in Køge.
The wagons were given the letter Lps, with the operating numbers 42 86 412 8 000-080, and were put into operation after conversion in 1990-91.
From the start, the carriages had ends of wire mesh, and at the same time they had no real cover at the bottom, the wooden logs lay directly on the profiles in the undercarriage.
Around 1993, the wagons were rebuilt so that they had a partially closed bottom, probably to protect braking equipment etc. when the wooden logs were loaded and unloaded.
At about the same time, the serial numbers of the carriages were changed to 100-180, and the second digit of the UIC number was changed from 2 to 1.
Later, some of the carriages were fitted with extra stiffeners in the ends, to protect the relatively fragile wire mesh, and some carriages got the nets in the gables replaced by steel plates so that they had both closed bottom and closed gables.
Finally, a number of carriages were fitted on one side with 4 "chain boxes", in which the chains for attaching the wooden logs could be stored when not in use.
Almost all the Lps wagons were transferred to Railion when the DSB split in 2001, but the wagons were generally obsolete and disappeared relatively quickly thereafter.
The undercarriages were at that time approx. 40 years old and the relatively slender superstructure was clearly marked by approx. 10 years of harsh use.
And finally, the domestic shipments of wood per. lane significantly reduced, so that the wagons were no longer really needed.

The models

The models are built of a cast base of metal (consisting of beams and various profiles in the chassis) and vertical supports of plastic.
The wagons with the item numbers McK 2001-2008 have gables consisting of etched metal nets, other wagons also have plate gables made of metal.
The carriages also consist of a number of loosely manufactured parts of either metal or plastic, i.a. resilient brass buffers, etched corner steps, metal wire handrails, etched chain boxes (McK 2009-2010 only) and richly detailed braking system.

The trolleys are delivered in the following 3 versions:
Open bottom and ends with wire mesh
Closed bottom and ends with wire mesh
Closed bottom, plate ends and "chain boxes"

Open bottom and open ends
