Pre-Order McK1612 DSB Hims 21 86 211 4 418-5

In 1960, DSB received 10 closed freight wagons made of steel, of a completely new type with sliding side walls.
The wagons were given the letter Hs, and were very modern in relation to the many Gs wagons DSB otherwise received around that time.
As early as 1961, the wagons were re-literated to Hs-t, and in the period 1962-63 they were then followed by a series of another 300 wagons, which also received the letter Hs-t.
Unlike the first 10 wagons, the series on the 300 wagons got a highly placed brake platform with a screw brake, in principle as on the Gs wagons of series 1 and 2.
All these 310 wagons were delivered with five-digit wagon numbers, but around 1966 the wagons got new 11-digit UICs. numbers, and was transcribed on the same occasion to His.
In 1966-67, another 300 carriages followed, delivered with 11-digit UIC numbers like the letter His. These were the last wagons of this liter, and thus a total of 610 wagons of this type were built.
The last series also had a high-positioned brake platform, but where the first two series had smooth car sides with two characteristic "cracks", the last 300 cars had sides with two parallel longitudinal profiles along the entire length of the sides.
The last series of carriages also had the handrails on the doors placed differently than the carriages with smooth sides.
Around 1980, all the His wagons were transcribed to Hims, and on the same occasion 5-8 were changed. digit in the UIC numbers, but the vehicle numbers themselves did not change.
In terms of colors and design, the wagons were dark brown with a silver roof on delivery.
Later, the wagons became completely brown, in connection with the DSB design from the beginning of the seventies.
Finally, some of the wagons got the slightly lighter brown RAL 8025 design that was introduced in the mid-seventies, still with the large DSB in the upper left corner.
Almost all of the Hims wagons were in operation right up to the mid-nineties.

The models

The models consist of a cast metal base and a car body made of plastic, and are subsequently built up of many loosely manufactured parts in both metal and plastic.
The carriages have, among other things, resilient buffers of brass, etched corner steps, handrails of metal wire and a richly detailed braking system.
The wagons are initially delivered in the following variants:

Hs-t:

  • Five-digit numbers, brown car body, silver-colored roof, and with brake platform
  • Five-digit number, brown car body, silver-colored roof, and without brake platform

His:

  • UIC numbers, brown car body with silver-colored roof
  • DSB design, first edition, brown car body and brown roof

Hims:

  • UIC numbers, brown car body with silver-colored roof
  • DSB design, first edition, brown car body and brown roof

Variants, numbers and status

In general, all wagons with five-digit wagon numbers have smooth sides with two "cracks".

The same applies to the UIC carriages with carriage numbers 000-299 and 990-999, while the UIC carriages with carriage numbers 300-599 have two longitudinal profiles on the doors, and no "cracks".
