The BR 215 was a diesel locomotive type for DB and later Deutsche Bahn AG for moderately difficult journeys and freight services. In the short-term the range was procured as a variant for the V160 class and equipped with steam heating generators. The main reason for building the BR 215 was that the BR 218 had not yet been ready for mass production.
