1965, three multiple units for the parade train “Transalpin ”Procured by ÖBB. The new 4010 series replaced the four-part sets of the 4030 series. A second series of twelve 5-part sets was built from 1966 for inner-Austrian city express trains.
For the new international connections created at the end of the 1960s, two further 6-piece sets were procured in a third series, corresponding to the first series.
